What Actually Happened
Jake Claver spent most of 2025 telling anyone who would listen that XRP was going to $100 by December 31st. He cited ETF inflows, U.S. regulatory clarity, and "global liquidity shifts" as his catalysts. Fellow analyst Zach Rector publicly called it "sad" that Claver was "still misleading people" with only days left in the year and XRP trading below $2. A community member named Levi Rietveld even proposed a $1 million wager on the $100 prediction. Claver never formally accepted. XRP closed 2025 at $1.85 — about 98% short of his target. In 2026, things got worse: XRP nearly dipped below $1. Standard Chartered has since cut their XRP forecast from $8 to $2.80. But the real comedy? Claver was not alone. Other XRP "analysts" predicted $250, $750, $5,769, and one Time Traveler character called for $73,000. XRP peaked at $3.66. Belief alone, it turns out, does not move markets.
