Hedge Fund Telemetry Calls for S&P Crash to 5000. S&P Replies: "Still Standing."

Posted April 21, 2026

"At some point in 2026, the S&P will break under 5500. Maybe 5000."

What Actually Happened

Four months into 2026, and despite Marchs Iran-triggered volatility hitting hedge funds with their worst monthly drawdown since January 2022, the S&P 500 remains defiantly above 5500. Yes, there was chaos. Yes, geopolitical tension spiked. Yes, hedgies got hammered. But the markets resilience? Still undefeated. The narrative of a 2026 crash littered with stocks breaking through 5000 has aged like an analysts 2024 earnings model—theoretically sound, practically useless.
