Amazon Was "Not Going to Be a Profitable Company"

What Actually Happened
During the dot-com bust, Amazon's stock dropped from over $100 to under $6. Many analysts wrote its obituary. The conventional wisdom was that online retail was a fad and Amazon would never turn a profit.
Amazon has since become one of the most valuable companies in the world, with a market cap exceeding $2 trillion. AWS alone generates more profit than most Fortune 500 companies. Jeff Bezos became the richest person in the world. If you had bought Amazon stock at its 2001 low of about $5.50, your investment would have increased by roughly 35,000%.
The analysts who said "sell" at $6 missed out on one of the greatest wealth-creation stories in history.
